The AWARE Project advocates for the adoption of five best practices on the local and state level that fosters healthy police-community relations. Utilizing a framework grounded in human rights standards and principles, a free public education brochure was created as part of the RESPECT FOR LIFE campaign, in conjunction with a traveling exhibit of images from The Fire Shut Up in Our Bones documentary. This campaign advanced through the visual art displays of excerpts from "Black & Blue: My Ride-Along Diaries" documentary project that opened a unique window into community relations with the Prince William County Police Department, which implements all five best practices. The advocacy work furthered through roundtable discussions and symposiums with various agencies across multiple levels of the criminal justice system and the community.
